John 6:51-58
My flesh is real food and my blood is real drink
Jesus said to the crowd:
‘I am the living bread which has come down from heaven.
Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever;
and the bread that I shall give is my flesh,
for the life of the world.’
Then the Jews started arguing with one another: ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ they said. Jesus replied:
‘I tell you most solemnly,
if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you will not have life in you.
Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood
has eternal life,
and I shall raise him up on the last day.
For my flesh is real food
and my blood is real drink.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood
lives in me
and I live in him.
As I, who am sent by the living Father,
myself draw life from the Father,
so whoever eats me will draw life from me.
This is the bread come down from heaven;
not like the bread our ancestors ate:
they are dead,
but anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.’
On the Corpus Solemnity we stand before the mystery and holiness of our God. Jesus Christ is present among us, in his Church. The Blessed Sacrament, we call the Holy Eucharist, is the promise of the Son of God himself, I do not leave you, I am with you, until I will come again. God, who is Almighty and the powerful, he is with us, to feed us with his grace.
Every Mass, it does it matter, where is it celebrated, in a small church and in a distinguish and beautiful decorated basilicas, this is about the same Christ, who sacrifice himself on the altar for our salvation. If we stop and think for a while about that, we have realized such a great and non-understanding gift we have. God is with us; the source of creation and holiness wants to dwell in human heart.
Today we take the Blessed Sacrament to the streets, where we live, to venerate them and to manifest the gift of God to others. This annual procession becomes a profession of faith, the living God is here, physically and realistically. Taking him outside of our churches, we want to adore and worship the miracle from heaven.
We cannot understand the mystery of the Holy Eucharist, who it is possible, that God is a small piece of bread, and couple drops of wine after the consecration, while the priest is saying the words of Christ, changing the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of God, not with his power, but with power of Christ, the Eternal Priest.
In the face of this great presence of God, we follow Saint Thomas Aquinas, who was one the brightest minds in the Church’s history. He also could not understand the miracle of the Eucharist, so composed the eucharistic song “the Adoro te devote”. In the second verse he says, “Not to sight, or taste, or touch be credit hearing only do we trust secure; I believe, for God the Son has said it- Word of truth that ever shall endure”.
This day welomes us to adore our Lord, and to do the thanksgiving for every Holy Eucharist in my life. Jesus Christ waits to hear from us, I love you oh my Lord, thank you for coming to me, because I do not deserve for this gift of you, and altghout you come to me.
May my life be open to receive the Body of Christ so often. An Itallian yough Agustin Acutis, who died at 15 years old, the Beatified one of the Catholic Church, he will be canonized soon, as the man dedecated to the Holy Eucahrist, he used to say: the Mass is lke a highway into heaven. To receive the Body of Christ, this is the certain way to God in his Kingdom.

Jezus powiedział do Żydów: "Ja jestem chlebem żywym, który zstąpił z nieba. Jeśli ktoś spożywa ten chleb, będzie żył na wieki. Chlebem, który Ja dam, jest moje Ciało, wydane za życie świata". Sprzeczali się więc między sobą Żydzi, mówiąc: "Jak On może nam dać swoje ciało do jedzenia?" Rzekł do nich Jezus: "Zaprawdę, zaprawdę, powiadam wam: Jeżeli nie będziecie jedli Ciała Syna Człowieczego ani pili Krwi Jego, nie będziecie mieli życia w sobie. Kto spożywa moje Ciało i pije moją Krew, ma życie wieczne, a Ja go wskrzeszę w dniu ostatecznym. Ciało moje jest prawdziwym pokarmem, a Krew moja jest prawdziwym napojem. Kto spożywa moje Ciało i Krew moją pije, trwa we Mnie, a Ja w nim. Jak Mnie posłał żyjący Ojciec, a Ja żyję przez Ojca, tak i ten, kto Mnie spożywa, będzie żył przeze Mnie. To jest chleb, który z nieba zstąpił – nie jest on taki jak ten, który jedli wasi przodkowie, a poumierali. Kto spożywa ten chleb, będzie żył na wieki".
W Uroczystość Bożego Ciała stajemy wobec tajemnicy i świętości naszego Boga. Jezus Chrystus jest obecny pośród nas, w swoim Kościele. Najświętszy Sakrament, który nazywamy Świętą Eucharystią, jest obietnicą samego Syna Bożego: „Nie zostawię was, jestem z wami, aż przyjdę ponownie.” Bóg, który jest Wszechmogący i potężny, jest z nami, aby karmić nas swoją łaską.
Każda Msza Święta, bez względu na to, gdzie jest sprawowana — czy w małym kościele, czy w okazałej i pięknie udekorowanej bazylice — uobecnia tego samego Chrystusa, który ofiaruje samego siebie na ołtarzu dla naszego zbawienia. Jeśli zatrzymamy się i pomyślimy o tym przez chwilę, uświadomimy sobie, jak wielki i niepojęty dar posiadamy. Bóg jest z nami; źródło stworzenia i świętości pragnie zamieszkać w ludzkim sercu.
Dzisiaj wynosimy Najświętszy Sakrament na ulice, gdzie żyjemy, aby oddać Mu cześć i ukazać innym dar Boga. Ta coroczna procesja staje się wyznaniem wiary: żywy Bóg jest tutaj, rzeczywiście i realnie obecny. Wynosząc Go poza mury naszych kościołów, pragniemy adorować i czcić ten cud z nieba.
Nie jesteśmy w stanie w pełni pojąć tajemnicy Świętej Eucharystii — jak to możliwe, że Bóg staje się małą cząstką chleba i kilkoma kroplami wina po konsekracji, gdy kapłan wypowiada słowa Chrystusa, przemieniając chleb i wino w Ciało i Krew Boga, nie własną mocą, lecz mocą Chrystusa, Wiecznego Kapłana.
Wobec tej wielkiej obecności Boga idziemy za św. Tomaszem z Akwinu, który był jednym z najwspanialszych umysłów w historii Kościoła. On również nie potrafił pojąć cudu Eucharystii, dlatego ułożył pieśń eucharystyczną „Adoro te devote”. W drugiej zwrotce mówi: „Mylą się, o Boże, w Tobie wzrok i smak, Kto się im poddaje, temu wiary brak, Ja jedynie wierzyć Twej nauce chcę, Że w postaci chleba utaiłeś się”.
Ten dzień zaprasza nas do adoracji naszego Pana i do dziękczynienia za każdą Eucharystię w naszym życiu. Jezus Chrystus czeka, aby usłyszeć od nas: „Kocham Cię, o mój Panie, dziękuję Ci, że przychodzisz do mnie, choć nie zasługuję na ten dar, a jednak Ty do mnie przychodzisz.”
Niech moje życie będzie zawsze otwarte na jak najczęstsze przyjmowanie Ciała Chrystusa. Młody włoski błogosławiony, Carlo Acutis, który zmarł w wieku 15 lat i wkrótce zostanie kanonizowany, jako człowiek oddany Świętej Eucharystii mawiał: „Msza Święta jest autostradą do nieba.” Przyjmowanie Ciała Chrystusa jest pewną drogą do Boga i do Jego Królestwa.
Przyjmujmy Ciało Chrystusa z czcią, z czystym sercem i w stanie łaski uświęcającej. A jeśli w tym stanie nie jesteśmy, miłosierny Bóg czeka, aby przebaczyć nasze grzechy i uczynić nasze serce świętą świątynią dla siebie.
Bądź uwielbiony, o Panie, w Najświętszym Sakramencie Ołtarza. Amen.
