The eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged to meet them. When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated. Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.’
Today we celebrate an important feast within the Resurrection Season: The Ascension of the Lord. After 40 days of victory, Jesus Christ returned to His Father in Heaven. His departure was connected to the promise of the Holy Spirit, who is the Wisdom of God, guiding the Church to this day. This same gift from above gave the Apostles the courage to proclaim the Good News. Jesus Christ is Risen, working among them and performing countless miracles.
The Holy Spirit is the power of the Church, sustaining it to the present day, even as the centuries have passed.
The Solemnity of today directs our gaze toward heaven. The Son of God, the first person with human nature, ascends to eternity. He returns to His Father, where His natural place is, but He shows us that His place is ours as well. He is the precursor of our Christian destiny. Through the Resurrection, He has opened the gate of heaven, revealing the certain vocation and place for those who are baptized in the name of the Lord. It is the Kingdom of God.
The feast invites us to contemplate the compelling promise of God: my will is to live with you forever.
The promise of heaven is not attractive to many people. It is difficult to imagine this place of joy because it is invisible. A person of the 21st century relies on images, pictures, and visual representations, and eternity lies beyond these instruments of recognition. The vision of heaven that I recognize comes through faith; the words of the Lord are true.
It is worthy of belief because this place is full of beauty, peace, happiness, and the fulfillment of human existence. The proof of this vision lies in the testimony of the saints, who were given a glimpse of heaven before they died. They did not want to return to ordinary life because they experienced a happiness they had never known before.
May this solemnity kindle in me the desire to be united with God. Jesus Christ, grant me eternity with You. Amen.

Wtedy Jezus zbliżył się do nich i przemówił tymi słowami: "Dana Mi jest wszelka władza w niebie i na ziemi. Idźcie więc i nauczajcie wszystkie narody, udzielając im chrztu w imię Ojca i Syna, i Ducha Świętego. Uczcie je zachowywać wszystko, co wam przykazałem. A oto Ja jestem z wami przez wszystkie dni, aż do skończenia świata".
Dzisiaj świętujemy ważne święto w Okresie Wielkanocnym: Wniebowstąpienie Pańskie. Po 40 dniach zwycięstwa Jezus Chrystus powrócił do swojego Ojca w Niebie. Jego odejście było związane z obietnicą Ducha Świętego, który jest Mądrością Bożą, prowadzącą Kościół do dnia dzisiejszego. Ten sam dar z wysoka dał Apostołom odwagę, by głosić Dobrą Nowinę. Jezus Chrystus zmartwychwstał, działa wśród nich i dokonuje niezliczonych cudów.
Duch Święty jest mocą Kościoła, podtrzymującą go do dnia dzisiejszego, mimo że minęły wieki.
Uroczystość dzisiejsza kieruje nasze spojrzenie ku niebu. Syn Boży, pierwsza osoba o ludzkiej naturze, wstępuje do wieczności. Powraca do swojego Ojca, gdzie jest Jego naturalne miejsce, ale pokazuje nam, że Jego miejsce jest również nasze. Jest On prekursorem naszego chrześcijańskiego przeznaczenia. Przez Zmartwychwstanie otworzył bramę nieba, ukazując pewne powołanie i miejsce dla tych, którzy są ochrzczeni w imię Pana. To jest Królestwo Boże.
Święto zaprasza nas do kontemplacji przekonującej obietnicy Boga: moją wolą jest żyć z tobą na wieki.
Obietnica nieba nie jest atrakcyjna dla wielu ludzi. Trudno jest wyobrazić sobie to miejsce radości, ponieważ jest niewidzialne. Człowiek XXI wieku polega na obrazach, zdjęciach i wizualnych przedstawieniach, a wieczność leży poza tymi narzędziami rozpoznania. Wizja nieba, którą rozpoznaję, przychodzi przez wiarę; słowa Pana są prawdziwe.
Jest to godne wiary, ponieważ to miejsce jest pełne piękna, pokoju, szczęścia i spełnienia ludzkiej egzystencji. Dowodem tej wizji jest świadectwo świętych, którym dane było ujrzeć niebo przed śmiercią. Nie chcieli wracać do zwykłego życia, ponieważ doświadczyli szczęścia, którego nigdy wcześniej nie znali.
Niech ta uroczystość rozpali we mnie pragnienie zjednoczenia z Bogiem. Jezu Chryste, obdarz mnie wiecznością z Tobą. Amen.
