Jesus said to his disciples:
‘If you love me you will keep my commandments.
I shall ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate
to be with you for ever,
that Spirit of truth
whom the world can never receive
since it neither sees nor knows him;
but you know him,
because he is with you, he is in you.
I will not leave you orphans;
I will come back to you.
In a short time the world will no longer see me;
but you will see me,
because I live and you will live.
On that day you will understand that I am in my Father
and you in me and I in you.
Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them
will be one who loves me;
and anybody who loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I shall love him and show myself to him.’
This Sunday of Easter, we read the Gospel of John, chapter 14th, Jesus before his passion declared the promise of the Holy Spirit, as the gift of the Risen Lord. Christ had foretold, that the Holy Spirit would have come, to start the work of the Church, which will be preaching the Good News.
It’s worthy to focus on a thought of Jesus, he says, you are not orphans, it means, you are not alone. Here, Christ wants to remark, he is going to Heaven, but the Apostles and the Church are not left alone, but all the time, the believers have the assistance of the Holy Spirit.
This the hope and certainty, we do not need to be afraid, because God is with us. The visible presence of him, it is the Church lasting over 2000 years, and the power of God, which is visible in the sacraments and teaching.
Christ is trustworthy, any word of him is not fall in vain, but for many times, he has proofed his power with his people, especially the history could tell us about the times of crises and the uncertainty.
And today, while we experience a difficult time for the Church, a lot of confusions, divisions, and private opinions about the faith, he says, do not be afraid, I am with you. The same words were appeared on the Inauguration Day of Pope John Paul II, when on the 22nd of October 1978 said, do not be afraid to open the doors of your hearts, the world of culture and economic and politics for Christ.
The words of Christ and the Pope are still valid, to be able to understand, we are under the protection of God.
But Jesus says, very soon, the world will not see me again, these words warn us before the trap, not to lose God from our side. Indeed, some people had never seen Jesus, because he revealed himself to those, who believed.
Today, some people are in the same situation, they live, like God does not exist. So often, they are baptized, but not having the real experience of faith. Why? Because the gift of faith and the Providence of God depend on a singular person, who may refuse to believe, that God is with us. That kind of life is full of fear and disappointments. So often I hear the voice here, without faith, here on earth, my life does not make sense. This is only about the years and days, which last quickly.
Jesus Christ is telling us; I am with you until the end of the world. Do not be afraid and look into the future through the spectrum of faith and eternity. Amen.
Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów: "Jeżeli Mnie miłujecie, będziecie zachowywać moje przykazania. Ja zaś będę prosił Ojca, a innego Pocieszyciela da wam, aby z wami był na zawsze, Ducha Prawdy, którego świat przyjąć nie może, ponieważ Go nie widzi ani nie zna. Ale wy Go znacie, ponieważ u was przebywa i w was będzie. Nie zostawię was sierotami: Przyjdę do was. Jeszcze chwila, a świat nie będzie już Mnie oglądał. Ale wy Mnie widzicie, ponieważ Ja żyję i wy żyć będziecie. W owym dniu poznacie, że Ja jestem w Ojcu moim, a wy we Mnie i Ja w was. Kto ma przykazania moje i zachowuje je, ten Mnie miłuje. Kto zaś Mnie miłuje, ten będzie umiłowany przez Ojca mego, a również Ja będę go miłował i objawię mu siebie".
W tą Niedzielę Wielkanocną czytamy Ewangelię Jana, rozdział 14, Jezus przed swoją męką oznajmił o obietnicy Ducha Świętego jako dar Zmartwychwstałego Pana. Chrystus przepowiedział, że ma przyjść Duch Święty, aby rozpocząć dzieło Kościoła, który będzie głosił Dobrą Nowinę.
Warto skupić się na myśli Jezusa, mówi, że nie jesteście sierotami, to znaczy, że nie jesteście sami. Tutaj Chrystus chce zaznaczyć, że On idzie do Nieba, ale Apostołowie i Kościół nie są pozostawieni samym sobie, wierzący cały czas mają asystę Ducha Świętego.
Jest to nadzieja i pewność, że nie musimy się bać, bo Bóg jest z nami. Jego widzialna obecność to Kościół trwający ponad 2000 lat i moc Boża widoczna w sakramentach i nauczaniu.
Chrystus jest Prawdomówny, żadne jego słowo nie idzie na marne, ale wielokrotnie udowadniał Swoją moc pośród ludem, zwłaszcza w czasach kryzysów i niepewności.
A dzisiaj, gdy przeżywamy trudny czas dla Kościoła, wiele zamieszania, podziałów, prywatnych opinii na temat wiary, On mówi: nie bójcie się, jestem z wami. Te same słowa padły w dniu Inauguracji Papieża Jana Pawła II, kiedy 22 października 1978 roku Ojciec Święty powiedział: nie lękajcie się otworzyć drzwi waszych serc, świata kultury, gospodarki i polityki dla Chrystusa.
Słowa Chrystusa i Papieża są nadal aktualne, by móc zrozumieć, że jesteśmy pod opieką Boga.
Ale Jezus mówi jeszcze, że już niedługo świat mnie już nie zobaczy, te słowa ostrzegają nas przed pułapką, aby nie stracić Boga z naszego wzroku. Rzeczywiście, niektórzy ludzie nigdy nie widzieli Jezusa po Jego Zmartwychwstaniu, ponieważ On objawił się tym, którzy uwierzyli.
Dzisiaj niektórzy ludzie są w takiej samej sytuacji, żyją tak, jakby Boga nie było. Często są to ochrzczeni ludzie, ale nie mają prawdziwego doświadczenia wiary. Dlaczego? Ponieważ dar wiary i Opatrzność Boża zależą od pojedynczej osoby, która może odmówić wiary, że Bóg jest z nami. Takie życie jest pełne strachu i rozczarowań. Tak często słyszę głos tutaj, bez wiary, tu na ziemi, moje życie nie ma sensu.
