Jesus said to his disciples:
‘Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God still, and trust in me.
There are many rooms in my Father’s house;
if there were not, I should have told you.
I am going now to prepare a place for you,
and after I have gone and prepared you a place,
I shall return to take you with me;
so that where I am
you may be too.
You know the way to the place where I am going.’
Thomas said, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus said:
‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.
No one can come to the Father except through me.
If you know me, you know my Father too.
From this moment you know him and have seen him.’
Philip said, ‘Lord, let us see the Father and then we shall be satisfied.’ ‘Have I been with you all this time, Philip,’ said Jesus to him ‘and you still do not know me?
‘To have seen me is to have seen the Father,
so how can you say, “Let us see the Father”?
Do you not believe
that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words I say to you I do not speak as from myself:
it is the Father, living in me, who is doing this work.
You must believe me when I say
that I am in the Father and the Father is in me;
believe it on the evidence of this work, if for no other reason.
I tell you most solemnly,
whoever believes in me
will perform the same works as I do myself,
he will perform even greater works,
because I am going to the Father.’
When reading the Gospel according to St John, we notice how Jesus emphasizes the importance of trust and the promise of eternal life. This passage brings great hope, standing against the fear and uncertainty that so often prevail in our world today.
It is natural that we seek a sense of security, and yet almost every day we are bombarded with messages that provoke anxiety. Society is shaped by fear, governed by emotions of threat. People exposed to negativity become more vulnerable and susceptible to all kinds of manipulation.
In contrast to this reality, the Lord says, “Let not your hearts be troubled; you have faith in God, have faith also in me.” Jesus does not wish for us to be enslaved, paralysed by fear and despair. He assures us that in his Kingdom there are many places, and his desire is for us to be safe and filled with joy. The promise of heaven brings comfort: life on earth, with all its dangers, will not last forever. Though we may face difficulties now, but one day they will come to an end.
The words of Jesus respond to my impatience and questioning—when will I be free from troubles? Christ replies not yet, but one day, everything will pass away: if not here, then certainly in eternity.
Jesus tells us, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” He is the gateway to true fulfilment and the only mediator with God the Father. He desires our happiness and comfort, but always in truth and within the realities of daily life, which is a blend of joy and sorrow.
The Apostles, filled with the Holy Spirit, were inspired by God to proclaim the Gospel. They were aware of life’s dangers, yet their hearts echoed the message: your life will be rewarded in eternity.
Saint Bernadette Soubirous lived in constant danger and suffered from lung disease, but she believed that one day she would see Jesus and the Blessed Mother.
God never leaves us alone with our problems; he assures us that our suffering and fear are temporary. Even if we do not find relief in this life, we will be granted peace in the life to come. “I have conquered the world—trust in me, says the Lord.” Amen.
Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów: "Niech się nie trwoży serce wasze. Wierzycie w Boga? I we Mnie wierzcie. W domu Ojca mego jest mieszkań wiele. Gdyby tak nie było, to bym wam powiedział. Idę przecież przygotować wam miejsce. A gdy odejdę i przygotuję wam miejsce, przyjdę powtórnie i zabiorę was do siebie, abyście i wy byli tam, gdzie Ja jestem. Znacie drogę, dokąd Ja idę". Odezwał się do Niego Tomasz: "Panie, nie wiemy, dokąd idziesz. Jak więc możemy znać drogę?" Odpowiedział mu Jezus: "Ja jestem drogą i prawdą, i życiem. Nikt nie przychodzi do Ojca inaczej, jak tylko przeze Mnie. Gdybyście Mnie poznali, znalibyście i mojego Ojca. Ale teraz już Go znacie i zobaczyliście". Rzekł do Niego Filip: "Panie, pokaż nam Ojca, a to nam wystarczy". Odpowiedział mu Jezus: "Filipie, tak długo jestem z wami, a jeszcze Mnie nie poznałeś? Kto Mnie zobaczył, zobaczył także i Ojca. Dlaczego więc mówisz: Pokaż nam Ojca? Czy nie wierzysz, że Ja jestem w Ojcu, a Ojciec we Mnie? Słów tych, które wam mówię, nie wypowiadam od siebie. Ojciec, który trwa we Mnie, On sam dokonuje tych dzieł. Wierzcie Mi, że Ja jestem w Ojcu, a Ojciec we Mnie. Jeżeli zaś nie, wierzcie przynajmniej ze względu na same dzieła. Zaprawdę, zaprawdę powiadam wam: Kto we Mnie wierzy, będzie także dokonywał tych dzieł, których Ja dokonuję, owszem i większe od tych uczyni, bo Ja idę do Ojca".
Czytając Ewangelię według św. Jana, dostrzegamy, jak Jezus podkreśla znaczenie zaufania i obietnicy życia wiecznego. Ten fragment przynosi wielką nadzieję, przeciwstawiając się lękowi i niepewności, które tak często dominują w dzisiejszym świecie.
To naturalne, że szukamy poczucia bezpieczeństwa, a jednak niemal każdego dnia jesteśmy bombardowani wiadomościami wywołującymi niepokój. Społeczeństwo kształtowane jest przez strach, rządzone przez emocje i zagrożenia. Ludzie wystawieni na negatywne przekazy stają się bardziej podatni i wrażliwi na wszelkiego rodzaju manipulacje.
W kontraście do tej rzeczywistości Pan mówi: „Niech się nie trwoży serce wasze; wierzycie w Boga i we Mnie wierzcie.” Jezus nie chce, byśmy byli zniewoleni, sparaliżowani strachem i rozpaczą. Zapewnia nas, że w Jego Królestwie jest wiele miejsc, a Jego pragnieniem jest, byśmy byli bezpieczni i pełni radości. Obietnica nieba niesie pocieszenie: życie na ziemi, ze wszystkimi jego niebezpieczeństwami, nie trwa wiecznie. Choć dziś napotykamy trudności, pewnego dnia wszystko się skończy.
Słowa Jezusa odpowiadają mojej niecierpliwości i pytaniom — kiedy będę wolny od trosk? Chrystus odpowiada: jeszcze nie teraz, ale pewnego dnia wszystko przeminie; jeśli nie tu, to z pewnością w wieczności.
Jezus mówi nam: „Ja jestem Drogą, Prawdą i Życiem.” On jest bramą do prawdziwego spełnienia i jedynym pośrednikiem do Boga Ojca. Pragnie naszego szczęścia i pocieszenia, ale zawsze w prawdzie i w realiach codziennego życia, które jest mieszanką radości i smutku.
Apostołowie, napełnieni Duchem Świętym, byli natchnieni przez Boga, aby głosić Ewangelię, świadomi niebezpieczeństw życia, a mimo to w ich sercach rozbrzmiewała wiadomość: twoje życie zostanie nagrodzone w wieczności.
Święta Bernadetta Soubirous żyła w ciągłym zagrożeniu i cierpiała na chorobę płuc, lecz wierzyła, że pewnego dnia ujrzy Jezusa i Matkę Najświętszą.
Bóg nigdy nie zostawia nas samych z naszymi problemami; zapewnia nas, że nasze cierpienia i lęki są tymczasowe. Nawet jeśli nie znajdziemy ukojenia w tym życiu, otrzymamy pokój w życiu przyszłym. „Jam zwyciężył świat — zaufajcie Mi, mówi Pan”. Amen.
