After the wise men had left, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up, take the child and his mother with you, and escape into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, because Herod intends to search for the child and do away with him.’ So Joseph got up and, taking the child and his mother with him, left that night for Egypt, where he stayed until Herod was dead. This was to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
I called my son out of Egypt.
After Herod’s death, the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, ‘Get up, take the child and his mother with you and go back to the land of Israel, for those who wanted to kill the child are dead.’ So Joseph got up and, taking the child and his mother with him, went back to the land of Israel. But when he learnt that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod as ruler of Judaea he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he left for the region of Galilee. There he settled in a town called Nazareth. In this way the words spoken through the prophets were to be fulfilled:
‘He will be called a Nazarene.’
We are celebrating the Christmas season—a wonderful mystery in which God entered human history as a man. This is an extraordinary gift and a profound testimony of love.
Today is the Solemnity of the Holy Family. Jesus Christ demonstrates that He did not wish to come into the world in any other way but through the reality of earthly life. He chose to be born into a family. Blessed Mary and Joseph were the first to share communion with Jesus here on earth. Though He is God, Jesus learned many things within the family: respect for life, for others, and for work. The presence of Mary and Joseph was a time of preparation for His mission of salvation.
Christ showed that the family is the fundamental community for everyone. We become truly human within a family—not only in the biological sense, but spiritually as well.
Each person has their own history, which is connected to the essential foundation of society: the family.
On the other hand, no one has devised anything better than the family. It simply works. It is the best place for personal growth alongside a father and mother (man and woman).
Pope Francis spoke of the family, saying: “The family is … a centre of love, which provides the opportunity for proper development of personality, through the transmission of values and the right preparation for social roles.”
The Holy Father emphasises the value of the family as both a divine and human good.
Therefore, we are called to defend the family and to understand the relationship between man and woman, which shapes the children. Why? Because this concerns not only humanity, but God as well. It is the meaning of our existence.
Many people around the world attack the family because they know it is a bastion of Christianity and fundamental values. They also understand that if they destroy the family, it will be easier to control people and pursue their own interests.
Therefore, we must defend the family; this is our duty—out of respect for God and our ancestors.
Let us pray for strong faith and for the bonds within our families.
Gdy mędrcy się oddalili, oto anioł Pański ukazał się Józefowi we śnie i rzekł: "Wstań, weź dziecię i Jego Matkę i uchodź do Egiptu; pozostań tam, aż ci powiem; bo Herod będzie szukał dziecięcia, aby Je zgładzić". On wstał, wziął w nocy dziecię i Jego Matkę i udał się do Egiptu; tam pozostał aż do śmierci Heroda. Tak miało się spełnić słowo, które Pan powiedział przez Proroka: "z Egiptu wezwałem Syna mego". A gdy Herod umarł, oto Józefowi w Egipcie ukazał się Anioł Pański we śnie i rzekł: "Wstań, weź dziecię i Jego Matkę i idź do ziemi Izraela, bo już umarli ci, którzy czyhali na życie dziecięcia". On więc wstał, wziął dziecię i Jego Matkę i wrócił do ziemi Izraela. Lecz gdy posłyszał, że w Judei panuje Archelaos w miejsce ojca swego, Heroda, bał się tam iść. Otrzymawszy zaś we śnie nakaz, udał się w okolice Galilei. Przybył do miasta zwanego Nazaret i tam osiadł. Tak miało się spełnić słowo Proroków: "Nazwany będzie Nazarejczykiem".
Przeżywamy okres Bożego Narodzenia — wspaniałą tajemnicę, w której Bóg wszedł w ludzką historię jako człowiek. To niezwykły dar i głębokie świadectwo miłości.
Dziś obchodzimy Uroczystość Świętej Rodziny. Jezus Chrystus pokazuje, że nie chciał przyjść na świat w żaden inny sposób, jak tylko przez realność ziemskiego życia. Wybrał, by narodzić się w rodzinie. Błogosławiona Maryja i Józef jako pierwsi dzielili z Jezusem komunię tu, na ziemi. Chociaż jest Bogiem, Jezus nauczył się wielu rzeczy w rodzinie: szacunku dla życia, dla innych i dla pracy. Obecność Maryi i Józefa była czasem przygotowania do Jego misji zbawienia.
Chrystus pokazał, że rodzina jest podstawową wspólnotą dla każdego człowieka. To w rodzinie stajemy się naprawdę ludźmi — nie tylko w sensie biologicznym, ale także duchowym.
Każdy ma swoją własną historię, która jest związana z podstawowym fundamentem społeczeństwa: rodziną.
Z drugiej strony, nikt nie wymyślił niczego lepszego niż rodzina. Ona po prostu działa. To najlepsze miejsce do osobistego rozwoju u boku ojca i matki (mężczyzny i kobiety).
Papież Franciszek mówił o rodzinie: „Rodzina jest... centrum miłości, które daje możliwość właściwego rozwoju osobowości, poprzez przekazywanie wartości i właściwe przygotowanie do ról społecznych.”
Ojciec Święty podkreśla wartość rodziny jako dobra zarówno Boskiego, jak i ludzkiego.
Dlatego jesteśmy wezwani, by bronić rodziny i zrozumieć relację między mężczyzną i kobietą, która kształtuje dzieci. Dlaczego? Bo dotyczy to nie tylko ludzkości, ale także Boga. To sens naszego istnienia.
Wielu ludzi na świecie atakuje rodzinę, ponieważ wiedzą, że jest ona bastionem chrześcijaństwa i fundamentalnych wartości. Rozumieją również, że jeśli zniszczą rodzinę, łatwiej będzie kontrolować ludzi i realizować własne interesy.
Dlatego musimy bronić rodziny; to nasz obowiązek — z szacunku do Boga i naszych przodków.
Módlmy się o silną wiarę i o więzi w naszych rodzinach.
