The Parable about the Merciful Samaritan
Today celebrating the XV Sunday in the Ordinary Time, we have become the witnesses of the Jesus’ Parable of the Merciful Samaritan. The whole narration of Christ was about the event, which has never happened, but the contents of the story is deep to ponder in our hearts.
Reading the Gospel, we may notice the fundamental message from it, about the attitude of being charitable, which is inscribed into the ethos of the Christianity. Jesus Christ indicates, it does not matter, who is that person, I am obligated to help. The background of a man, who helped is the crucial thing. He was Samaritan, despised by the Jews. The only he wanted to help the wounded man, not others.
Let focus on a thing, which may be miss noticed, this about the issue of the will and courage to help. It may seem to us a bit silly, but the awareness of help starts from the decision and the reaction.
Observing the human’s reactions, one of the greatest challenges is about to go beyond your comfort and see your neighbour with the eyes of compassion. The natural desire of a man is to be felt saved, and the man does everything to keep the status of security for himself and own family. This is something normal and positive, but in many cases, it covers to notice other people, who may need help. So often I can be focused on myself, not being able to see my neighbour. The phrase, which was given earlier in the homily expresses: to have been able seen only your own little world. This is the way for the egocentric life, which does not allow to be free in the context of helping.
Jesus is teaching us through the Gospel, about the willingness of help, leaving the egocentrism of mine. The feeling of the comfort in any price, may be paralyzing and to make us feared. The attitude of good will, helps us to be free of self-central notice, building the feeling of peace, joy and hope.
Jesus Christ our Lord, help us of the snare of our fears and create in us the beautiful humanity of help and sensitivity to others. Amen.
Przypowieść o Miłosiernym Samarytaninie
Dziś, celebrując XV Niedzielę Zwykłą, stajemy się świadkami Przypowieści Jezusa o Miłosiernym Samarytaninie. Cała narracja Chrystusa była wydarzeniem, które nigdy się nie wydarzyło, ale treść tej historii głęboko porusza nasze serca.
Czytając Ewangelię, możemy zauważyć fundamentalne przesłanie – powtarzane wielokrotnie – że postawa miłosierdzia jest wpisana w etos chrześcijaństwa. Jezus Chrystus wskazuje, że nie ma znaczenia, kim jest osoba, której pomagamy – jesteśmy do tego zobowiązani, a pochodzenie tego, kto pomaga, jest kluczowe. Był to Samarytanin, pogardzany przez Żydów. To właśnie on chciał pomóc rannemu człowiekowi, nie inni.
Skupmy się na czymś, co łatwo przeoczyć – na kwestii woli i odwagi, by nieść pomoc. Może się nam to wydawać mało istotne, ale świadomość potrzeby pomocy zaczyna się od decyzji o reakcji.
W sferze obserwacji ludzkich reakcji jednym z największych wyzwań jest wyjście poza własną strefę komfortu i spojrzenie na bliźniego oczami współczucia. Naturalnym pragnieniem człowieka jest poczucie bezpieczeństwa, więc robimy wszystko, by je zachować dla siebie i swojej rodziny. To normalne i pozytywne, ale często w nadmiarze utrudnia dostrzeżenie tych, którzy mogą potrzebować pomocy. Tak często skupiam się na sobie, że nie widzę bliźniego. Jest takie określenie oddające istotę tej postawy: widzieć tylko swój własny mały świat. To droga do egocentrycznego życia, które nie pozwala swobodnie nieść pomocy.
Jezus uczy nas przez Ewangelię, pokazując postawę Samarytanina – gotowość, by pomagać. Poczucie bezpieczeństwa za wszelką cenę może paraliżować i budzić lęk. Postawa dobrej woli i otwartości na innych buduje pokój, radość i nadzieję.
Panie Jezu Chryste, pomóż nam wyjść z naszych lęków i tworzyć piękne człowieczeństwo pełne pomocy i wrażliwości na innych. Amen.
